An intriguing GFY gem

CLIFFY ALERT- Just so everyone is aware, this book ends in a pretty dramatic cliffhanger. So be prepared for that going in. I was not, since the book doesn't indicate one way or the other. Guess, I'll have to wait to see where more of this story goes in March.

The story itself was quite good. The writing executed well. I loved the Gay for you aspect of it. It was a true gay for you book. Although there were a little too much m/f sex for my liking, when I went into this thinking it was more m/m. But that in no way deters the excellent story that is here. The attraction was palpable. The sex hot. The break down of marriage was very well done. It didn't make me feel sorry for the wife at all. She was more of an annoyance than anything else. I worry about that sometimes when I read books like this. Truly, it was a fun read. It kept me interested from start to finish, filled with one dramatic plateau to the next. So much so I barely had time to catch my breath. It was sort of intense at times.

The only things that I'd hoped for a little more of was a back story to the other main male character. He wasn't rounded out. I needed to know more about him. The focus of this story is more about the gay for you part and a failing marriage.

The editing with grammar was done well. The proofing in terms of punctuation and transition needed more work. Too many '!' exclamation points in places that seemed strange, as well as misplaced capitalization and commas at the end of dialogue. But I think most people could read it without fault. I just know my eye picks up on things a little too keenly sometimes.

The cover is nice.
The blurb intriguing.
As a whole it was a solid 4 star read, which I was say is heavily aimed at the contemporary erotic romance genre with an emphasis in bisexual/ M/M sub-genre. It has lots of naughty parts that are fleshed out about 70% of the time. Definitely gets your blood pumping.

Completely surpassed my expectations!

I received an advanced copy of this from the author for an honest review. I haven't read very many m/m books so I wasn't sure what to expect, this was also the first book I have read from D Breeze.

I struggled to get into this book the first time I picked it up, I had been in a mood and I just couldn't connect with it so I decided to leave it down and come back to it again after my mood changed. I'm so glad I picked this book back up, once I really got started I was hooked right until the very last page.

This book wouldn't normally be something I would pick up, like I said above I haven't read many m/m books but I detest cheating so I normally steer clear of books containing it. Needless to say there was something that intrigued me about this book when I read the synopsis and I wanted to give it a shot.

I read in the author's note in beginning of this book that Blake may make us angry and while he made me a little cross at times I have to admit I loved him anyway. He was so tormented over his actions and also his feelings that I feel there was no other way for me to feel about him. My heart broke for the conflict he felt.

Carly was a super b!tch, I'm sorry I don't know if I'm the only one who feels that way it I hated her from the beginning. She was so materialistic and self-centred I just couldn't find it in me to feel bad for her.

Zach stole my heart also, it was split evenly between the two men that I couldn't say which one owned it more. I felt so bad for him at times in this story but I admired his strength and his acceptance of things. He was an amazing hero in my opinion.

D. Breeze brought this book to life for me, I was enthralled in the story and I have to admit I thought my phone was going to spontaneously combust at times with some of the smoking hot sex scenes she wrote.

Wasn't what I expected...

I thought I would be mad, but I was mad at her. Not him. Mad at her games, her childishness, her whining. Her bringing in another man. Her blaming Blake for what she actually started. I know others will see it totally different from me and that's okay. I call it as I see it. Blake and Zach work so much better than Blake and the she-devil.

The only thing I didn't expect in the book was so much written about the relationship between Blake and Carlie. Seeing that there is a second book makes it easier for me I think.

Overall, I loved it.

About the Author
Roxana Waterson studied anthropology at New Hall, Cambridge, where she received her Ph.D in 1981. She has been doing fieldwork with the Sa'adan Toraja people of Sulawesi since 1978. If you've never read a leadership book before, get this one.

Read this when I was a college kid and I enjoyed how practical it was. Now that I work in organizational development, I was amazed at how true and how empowering it was seeing it again with years of experience later. Great primer on how to lead others. If you've never read a leadership book before, get this one. It reads fast, it's easy to learn, and easy to implement.

Direct and To The Point

Good book. It provided practical information in a logical and well thought-out manor. It wasn't too wordy and got right to the point. It didn't insult the reader's intelligence, like so many other development books, by reciting countless case studies one after another. It was a great mixture of conceptual ideas and applicable techniques.

The best resource for Medicine Clerkship.

This book is probably the best resource available for the medicine clerkship. It is concise and well written. It is divided up into three sections. The first is a discussion of 26 of the most common presentations that beautifully illustrates how to put together your differential diagnosis. This first section I found was extremely helpful when seeing patients on wards or in clinic for the first time. It helped me ask the right questions to patients in order to come of with the most likely diagnoses. It is also remarkably helpful for the shelf exam since maybe 40% of the vignettes deal with these presentations. The second section discusses specific diseases in more detail. Again, these are very well written, with many helpful tables. Nearly every chapter has flowcharts for the management of patients with that particular disease. Since there are many "best next step" questions on the shelf exam, this is very helpful. The last section discusses common topics in ambulatory medicine, such as low back pain, dyslipidemias, and screening and prevention topics. This is very helpful as well since there are always a handful of questions on screening and prevention. Online, there are 34 additional chapters, most of which are useful enough (i.e. likely to appear on the shelf exam) for you to read. There are also a few videos, EKGs and CXRs with explanations of significant findings.

As you can see, there is a ton of stuff this book offers, but really none of it is beyond the scope of what could appear on the shelf exam. Except for the few chapters on psychiatric issues, this book was clearly written to help students like myself not just pass, but ace, the shelf exam. And it excels.

I preferred this book to Step-Up to Medicine (Step-Up Series), the most popular choice for medicine clerkship. Obviously people love that book, but I found the outline format too bothersome and prefer prose when delving into a topic for the first time. Step Up's information on diagnosing and managing conditions could use some work as well. For example, under the "diagnosis" section of many diseases, it would give a laundry list of findings for every diagnostic method under the sun without stating the test of choice. Very annoying.

Another popular book is Internal Medicine Essentials for Clerkship Students 2. This is from the ACP and is definitely the most authoritative book written for clerkship students. The problem is that it only covers the bare essentials. I actually did read a few chapters and found them to be a quick recap after already learning of the topic in hand. If you wanted to use this, I would recommend reading the appropriate chapters after having read the material in another book like Kochar's.

I read most but not all of the material in this book (I didn't find out about this book until a few weeks into the clerkship). I also did MKSAP For Students 4 (MKSAP for Students,Alguire) and got through maybe half of the internal medicine questions on USMLEWORLD. I just took the shelf exam today and felt like I was well prepared for it and would recommend this book and the mentioned question banks to anyone who wanted to do well on this clerkship.

Kochar Clinical Medicine for Students

I only wish i knew about this book sooner. No mistake about it, this IS the bible for all medical students. This would have been perfect for preceptorial sessions and case discussions but i only just found out about it and bought it toward the end of my clinical rotations. Still this is what i will be using for my Step 2 CK. Its only a hundred pages (more or less) more than Step up to IM, but cases are presented in an organized and logical manner. In a way it reminds me of Harrison's, just not two volumes long. The first sections deals with symptomatology and how to approach patients dealing with common presenting symptoms. It also gives an excellent differential list WITH a rationale. This is something most books do not have. The second section is about specific diseases arranged according to organ systems. Although this book does not offer the intricate details for patient management that an internist might be more interesting it. This book provides all the necessary information about internal medicine catered to especially for students. However, personally i think this book isnt just useful for students, its can me used by residents and even attendings as a quick review. This is definitely one of the best books i've ever owned and one that i will be going back to again and again.

Nice book

I used this book for a class I took in differential diagnosis and found it to be quite useful. It had information that wasn't in the Lange Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment, which was the main text for the course.
The only problem with the Kindle edition is the lack of an index with page numbers with hyperlinks (there are no page numbers) so you're forced to resort to using the application search function, which can bring up a distracting number of hits if you choose the wrong search term.
